Features

Unmanaged Ethernet Connectivity for Small Businesses
- The Aruba Instant On 1430 Switch Series is an unmanaged Layer 2 Gigabit Ethernet switch series ready to deploy in seven models in PoE and non-PoE configurations: one (1) 5-port, two (2) 8-port, two (2) 16-port, one (1) 24-port, and one (1) 26-port model with 2 SFP uplinks models.
- With PoE models, you get up to 30W PoE per port power delivery for Class 4 PoE devices like access points, surveillance cameras and VoIP phones. The 8-port and 16-port PoE models come with the power budget of 64W and 124W respectively to support the latest IoT devices.
- Two dedicated 1G SFP fiber ports on the 26-port model can be used for uplinks and to support long distance connectivity using fiber transceivers, for a total of 28 Ethernet ports.
- Aruba Instant On Limited Lifetime support provides 24x7 phone support for the first 90 days and chat support for the entire warranty period. Community support is included for the life of the product.

Plug-and-Play Operation
- The Aruba Instant On 1430 Switch Series models are easy to use with zero configuration and no required ongoing administration.
- The unmanaged PoE models delivers fully automated support for powering compatible IP phones, video surveillance cameras, or wireless access points.
- No configuration beyond installation of optional 1GbE SFP transceivers on 26-port model to extend connectivity with gigabit fiber.
- Install flexibility with support for table-top, under-table, wall-mount, and rack-mount options (varies per model).
- Simplified cabling automatically adjusts for straight-through or crossover cables on all 10/100/1000 ports using Auto MDI/MDI-X.

Energy Efficiency and Traffic Optimization
- The Aruba Instant On 1430 Switch Series supports Energy Efficient Ethernet (EEE) and is compliant with 802.3az standard requirements to save energy during periods of low data activity.
- All models are fan-less for silent operation in office settings or acoustically sensitive environments and require less power to operate.
- Quality of Service provides priority of time-sensitive packets (like VoIP and video) over other traffic based on DSCP or IEEE 802.1p classification.
- Jumbo frame support provides up to 9216 bytes frame size to improve the performance of large data transfers.
- Flow control provides a flow-throttling mechanism propagated through the network to prevent packet loss at a congested node.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the primary performance capabilities of the Aruba Instant On 1430 8G switch? +
The Aruba Instant On 1430 8G is a high-performance Layer 2 unmanaged switch designed for reliable gigabit connectivity. With eight 10/100/1000 Mbps RJ-45 ports, it provides non-blocking switching capacity, ensuring your local network traffic experiences minimal latency. It is ideal for high-bandwidth applications where simple plug-and-play performance is required to support workstations, printers, and other peripheral devices.
Is the Aruba Instant On 1430 8G switch suitable for office environments requiring silent operation? +
Absolutely. This model features a fanless design, making it perfectly suited for quiet office environments, home workspaces, or areas where noise sensitivity is a priority. Because it does not require active cooling fans, it also reduces potential points of failure, contributing to a more reliable, dust-resistant hardware deployment for your small business network.
Can the Aruba Instant On 1430 8G be mounted in a server rack or is it strictly for desktop use? +
The Aruba Instant On 1430 8G is designed with versatility in mind. While it is compact enough for convenient desktop placement, it can also be easily mounted on walls or under tables. This flexibility allows network administrators to optimize cable management and save valuable desk space in cramped office environments or small communication closets.
Does the 1430 8G switch support managed features like VLANs or QoS tagging? +
As an unmanaged Layer 2 switch, the Aruba Instant On 1430 8G operates at a plug-and-play level without complex configuration requirements. It does not support manual VLAN tagging or administrative management interfaces. It is intentionally engineered for simplicity, providing immediate, transparent connectivity for devices right out of the box without the need for firmware updates or feature management.
What is the power consumption profile for the Aruba Instant On 1430 8G? +
This switch is designed to be energy-efficient, adhering to IEEE 802.3az Energy Efficient Ethernet standards. It automatically adjusts power consumption based on link activity and cable length. This reduces operational costs while maintaining full connectivity, making it an environmentally conscious choice for businesses looking to minimize their electrical footprint across multiple deployments.
Does this switch support Power over Ethernet (PoE) for IP cameras or access points? +
The R8R45A model is a non-PoE switch, meaning it does not supply electrical power to connected devices through its Ethernet ports. If you require power for PoE-enabled equipment like security cameras or wireless access points, you would need to use external power injectors or consider an alternative model from the Aruba Instant On 1430 PoE-capable product family.
What kind of network cabling is required for the Aruba Instant On 1430 8G? +
The switch features standard RJ-45 copper ports that support Category 5e or higher twisted-pair cabling. To achieve full Gigabit Ethernet speeds (1000BASE-T), we recommend using Cat6 or Cat6a cabling, especially in environments where electromagnetic interference might be present. The ports are auto-MDI/MDIX enabled, eliminating the need for crossover cables when connecting between switches or other network devices.
How does the Aruba Instant On 1430 8G ensure network reliability? +
Reliability is a cornerstone of the Aruba Instant On series. This switch utilizes a high-quality, enterprise-grade hardware architecture designed to handle continuous traffic loads. By providing a stable, unmanaged switching environment, it eliminates the risk of human configuration errors, ensuring consistent uptime for critical business devices that do not require complex network management or traffic prioritization.
