EXSW-800G-50 Overview

The EXSW-800G is a central component of Extricom’s award-winning WLAN System, and the key building block for a new generation of business-class wireless that scales to any size, from a single office to a multi-building corporate campus.
The EXSW-800G supports GbE connectivity for up to 8 EXRP-30n or EXRP-40En 802.11n APs. It allows for an up to 2GbE uplink to the wired network, providing sufficient capacity to accommodate multiple 802.11n and legacy blankets. The EXSW-800G is the only device in the WLAN deployment that contains software; the plug-and-play APs simply function as radios, with no software, storage capability, MAC or IP address.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the primary benefit of deploying the Allied Telesis EXSW-800G in an enterprise network? +
The EXSW-800G is designed for high-performance connectivity, offering robust management features for demanding edge environments. Its primary advantage is reliable Power over Ethernet delivery, which simplifies the deployment of VoIP phones, wireless access points, and security cameras by streamlining cabling infrastructure while maintaining centralized switch control for improved network uptime.
How does the PoE capability of the EXSW-800G support scalable device deployments? +
This managed switch provides consistent PoE output across its ports, allowing administrators to power end-devices directly through the Ethernet cable. By eliminating the need for local power adapters at each device location, the EXSW-800G reduces physical clutter and operational costs, making it an ideal solution for offices expanding their IoT and unified communications footprint.
Is the Allied Telesis EXSW-800G suitable for bandwidth-intensive managed network environments? +
Absolutely. As a managed switch, it provides granular control over traffic prioritization and VLAN segmentation. This ensures that critical data streams receive necessary bandwidth, preventing bottlenecks during peak usage. Its architecture is optimized to handle modern enterprise workloads, maintaining low latency and high throughput for business-critical applications across your internal network.
What are the management options for configuring the EXSW-800G? +
The EXSW-800G supports comprehensive management via a user-friendly interface. Administrators can utilize industry-standard command-line interfaces or web-based management tools to monitor port status, configure security protocols, and perform remote diagnostics. This flexibility allows IT teams to maintain strict oversight of network performance and quickly address configuration changes without physical access to the hardware.
Can the EXSW-800G be integrated into existing Allied Telesis network infrastructures? +
Yes, this switch is designed to integrate seamlessly into Allied Telesis ecosystems. It supports standard networking protocols, ensuring interoperability with other Allied Telesis switching hardware. This compatibility simplifies management tasks and allows network administrators to maintain a unified environment, reducing the complexity of monitoring and maintaining a mixed-vendor network infrastructure.
What security features does the EXSW-800G offer to protect edge connectivity? +
The EXSW-800G includes integrated security features such as port-based authentication and traffic control mechanisms. By controlling access at the switch level, you can prevent unauthorized devices from gaining network entry. These features are essential for modern offices looking to bolster their security posture and protect sensitive enterprise data from localized threats at the network edge.
How does the EXSW-800G handle power management for connected peripherals? +
The switch offers intelligent power management, allowing users to monitor and control the power budget allocated to each PoE port. This prevents overloading the switch and ensures that mission-critical devices receive a stable power supply. Through the management interface, administrators can even schedule power cycling for devices, which is helpful for troubleshooting or energy-efficient office operations.
What are the physical mounting options for the Allied Telesis EXSW-800G? +
The EXSW-800G features a compact, durable design suitable for various deployment scenarios. It is typically deployed in standard equipment racks or secured in communication closets where space is at a premium.
