EX.14305 Overview

Extralink Krios PoE switch with Gigabit ports
It is a 6 port unmanaged switch with 4 PoE ports at a maximum speed of 1000 Mbps, with support for IEEE 802.3af/at standards with maximum power per port up to 30W. The switch also has 2 RJ45 ports without PoE power options. These ports can be used as Uplink ports or to connect additional devices e.g. video recorder in monitoring applications.

Four additional operating modes of the PoE switch
The KRIOS switch has four switches on the front that allow you to run additional modes to improve network performance or range. Below is a presentation of each mode's operating principles:

VLAN mode - when this mode is activated, the ports 1-4 are isolated from each other, which can effectively suppress public address storms and improve network performance.
EXTEND Mode - allows ports 1-4 to efficiently transmit data and PoE power over distances of up to 250 meters, which is ideal for video surveillance systems.
AI PS mode - the switch automatically detects the operating status of the connected device to one of the PoE ports and when it detects that it is not working properly it automatically restarts the device.
AI QoS Mode - In this mode, video data is processed as a priority to ensure a smooth image. The solution used primarily in monitoring solutions.

Power over Ethernet
The Krios switch supports IEEE 802.3 af/at standards, which automatically detects and identifies PoE devices that comply with these standards and provides them with power, so there is no need to worry about devices that do not need power through PoE (not supporting IEEE 802.3 af/at standards), the switch will not power these devices. The maximum power supply connected to the switch is 60W.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What is the primary power budget capacity for the Extralink KRIOS PoE switch? +
The Extralink KRIOS switch features a total PoE power budget of 60W. This capacity is designed to support multiple PoE or PoE+ powered devices, such as IP cameras, wireless access points, or VoIP phones, simultaneously without exceeding the integrated power supply limits.
Does the Extralink KRIOS switch support high-speed data transmission across all ports? +
Yes, this model is equipped with 4 Gigabit PoE ports and 2 dedicated Gigabit RJ45 uplink ports. This configuration ensures high-speed, non-blocking performance for your edge devices while maintaining a high-bandwidth connection to your core network or NVR storage systems.
Is the Extralink KRIOS suitable for a small office surveillance deployment? +
Absolutely. With its compact form factor and Gigabit throughput, it is an ideal choice for connecting IP security cameras. The PoE+ functionality simplifies installation by delivering both data and power over a single Ethernet cable, reducing overall cabling complexity.
What type of management interface does the Extralink KRIOS require for setup? +
The KRIOS is a plug-and-play, unmanaged Layer 2 switch. It does not require complex configuration, IP addressing, or software management. Once connected to your network infrastructure and powered on, it automatically negotiates speeds and port settings for immediate operation.
Are the 2 RJ45 uplink ports intended for PoE device connections? +
The two dedicated uplink ports on the Extralink KRIOS are non-PoE ports. They are specifically engineered to provide an efficient path for data traffic from the switch to your router, secondary switch, or internet gateway, ensuring your PoE budget remains reserved for your edge hardware.
How does the PoE+ standard on this switch benefit my network hardware? +
The switch supports the PoE+ standard, allowing it to deliver higher power levels compared to older standards. This flexibility makes it compatible with more demanding devices, such as high-definition PTZ cameras or high-performance Wi-Fi 6 access points that require additional wattage.
Can the Extralink KRIOS be mounted in a standard server rack? +
While the KRIOS is typically deployed as a desktop or shelf-mounted unit due to its compact design, its unmanaged nature makes it highly versatile. It is perfectly suited for small cabinets, utility closets, or wall-mounted enclosures where space is at a premium and simple connectivity is needed.
Does this switch handle auto-negotiation for connected devices? +
Yes, this unit fully supports auto-negotiation and auto MDI/MDIX. It automatically detects the speed and duplex settings of connected devices, ensuring optimal performance and eliminating the need for manual crossover cables, regardless of whether you are connecting PCs, cameras, or network storage.
How can I obtain a bulk quote for multiple Extralink KRIOS units? +
