DGS-2000-10 Overview

The DGS-2000 Series provide a diverse range of Gigabit port densities to accommodate various needs of enterprise access layer connectivity. With options such as PoE to conveniently power edge devices, SFP ports to extend network connectivity, advanced Layer 2 functionalities, and Layer 3 Lite manageability, the DGS-2000 Series is the ideal choice for any enterprise access layer deployment.

Ultra High Availability
For mission critical environments, the DGS-2000 series supports IGMP snooping, port mirroring, Spanning Tree Protocol (STP), and Link Aggregation Control Protocol (LACP). The IEEE 802.3x Flow Control function allows servers to directly connect to the switch for fast, reliable data transfers.
Network maintenance features include loopback detection and cable diagnostics. Loopback detection significantly speeds up troubleshooting by automatically detecting and terminating switching loops.
The cable diagnostics feature, designed primarily for administrators and customer service representatives, determines the cable quality and quickly discovers errors, allowing for effortless diagnostics and maintenance.

An Added Line of Defense Against Attacks
Defend your network with D-Link’s innovative Safeguard Engine™ to neutralize threats such as malicious network flooding attacks, ARP spoofing, and bogus DHCP IP addressing. Compatible with 802.1X RADIUS server applications, port-based and host-based authentication are applied through the Access Control List (ACL) to enhance network security.

Seamless Integration for All Access Layer Requirements
The DGS-2000 Series includes a wide variety of port and media types, including 10/100/1000BASE-T RJ-45 ports, 100/1000 Mbps GbE/SFP combo ports, and 100/1000 Mbps SFP ports. The DGS-2000-10, DGS-2000-26, DGS-2000-10P and DGS-2000-10MP models feature two 100/1000 Mbps SFP ports, while all other DGS-2000 Series models feature two or four GbE/SFP combo ports, allowing you to choose the most suitable media type for your requirements.
All DGS-2000 Series PoE switches include support for IEEE 802.3af/at and higher power budgets up to 370W, allowing more PoE devices to be powered by the switch. Additionally, an extended Link Layer Discovery Protocol (LLDP) automatically negotiates and manages power fed to IEEE 802.3at PoE+ powered devices for optimal power distribution.

QoS (Quality of Service) - Unhindered Surveillance & VoIP with a Simple Click
If you need surveillance or VoIP, there is no need to build a dedicated network. Simply enable the Auto Surveillance VLAN & Auto Voice VLAN features. Your surveillance videos will always run smoothly, and your VoIP calls will be crystal-clear from beginning to end, even during peak working hours.

Versatile Management
The DGS-2000 Series comes with the D-Link Network Assistant (DNA) utility that enables administrators to remotely control their network down to the port level. The D-Link Network Assistant utility allows customers to easily discover multiple D-Link Managed Access Switches within the same L2 network segment and display them on-screen for instant access, so users do not need to change the IP address of their PC. This allows for simultaneous configuration and setup of all discovered devices, including password changes and firmware upgrades. The DGS-2000 Series also supports Command Line Interface (CLI) through Telnet, SSH and the console port.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What are the primary port configurations available on the D-Link DGS-2000-10? +
The DGS-2000-10 is a compact, high-performance switch designed for small to medium enterprise environments. It features 8 10/100/1000BASE-T Gigabit Ethernet ports for localized device connectivity and 2 dedicated SFP uplink ports. This configuration provides the flexibility to connect high-speed fiber backbones or secondary switches while ensuring all standard workstations benefit from full Gigabit throughput.
Does the DGS-2000-10 support Layer 3 routing features? +
This model is primarily a Layer 2 managed switch that includes essential Layer 3 Lite functionality. It supports static routing, which allows for efficient traffic management between different VLANs or subnets. By offloading basic routing tasks from the core network, this device helps minimize latency and prevents unnecessary congestion at the gateway, making it an ideal choice for localized inter-VLAN routing in office environments.
How can I manage the D-Link DGS-2000-10 within my existing network infrastructure? +
Management is achieved through a user-friendly Web-based GUI or a standard Command Line Interface (CLI). It supports industry-standard protocols including SNMP for centralized monitoring and RMON to track network health. Administrators can also leverage SSH and SSL encryption to ensure that all management sessions remain secure, providing comprehensive control over port configurations, VLAN settings, and bandwidth prioritization across the network.
Is the D-Link DGS-2000-10 suitable for small business rackmount deployment? +
Yes, the switch is designed for standard 1U rackmount installation, allowing it to integrate seamlessly into server racks or data cabinets. Its compact form factor is specifically engineered for environments where space is at a premium, yet it maintains robust enterprise-grade hardware reliability. The rackmount design ensures optimal cable organization and provides the structural stability required for permanent installations in IT closets.
What security features does the DGS-2000-10 offer to protect edge devices? +
Security is prioritized through features such as Access Control Lists (ACLs) and Port Security. By restricting traffic based on MAC addresses or IP criteria, the switch prevents unauthorized devices from accessing the network core. Additionally, the device supports D-Link Safeguard Engine technology, which protects the CPU from broadcast, multicast, and unicast flooding, ensuring the switch remains operational during potential malicious traffic spikes.
How does the DGS-2000-10 handle traffic prioritization for VoIP and video? +
The switch features advanced Quality of Service (QoS) capabilities that allow administrators to classify traffic based on specific headers or application types. By utilizing 802.1p priority tagging and Weighted Round Robin (WRR) scheduling, the DGS-2000-10 ensures that time-sensitive data like VoIP calls and video conferencing streams receive priority bandwidth over standard data traffic, effectively preventing jitter and latency issues during peak usage.
Can the D-Link DGS-2000-10 be deployed in redundant network topologies? +
Yes, this switch supports Spanning Tree Protocol (STP), Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol (RSTP), and Multiple Spanning Tree Protocol (MSTP). These protocols allow the DGS-2000-10 to maintain redundant physical paths while preventing broadcast loops. In the event of a link failure, the switch can automatically converge on an alternative path, ensuring continuous network availability and high uptime for mission-critical business applications.
What are the power and environmental requirements for this managed switch? +
The DGS-2000-10 operates within standard internal power supply specifications typical of rackmount switches. It is built to function reliably in standard climate-controlled enterprise environments. The chassis design utilizes passive or integrated active cooling to maintain optimal operating temperatures, ensuring consistent performance and component longevity even when all Gigabit ports are utilized at near-capacity levels throughout the workday.
