CSWP210MMF Overview

Dante Ready Switches with Visual Network Monitoring

Complex network switch setup that was previously better left to an IT technician can now be easily accomplished by anyone. A simple switch setting is all it takes to optimize SWP series network switches for Dante operation, and a dedicated computer application called Yamaha LAN Monitor provides “network visibility” for comprehensive monitoring and control.

Developed since 1995
Yamaha entered the router business in 1995, and has grown to hold a significant share of Japan’s small to medium enterprise and SOHO network market. Yamaha gigabit L2 switches that could be linked to Yamaha routers/firewalls were introduced in 2011, with features that significantly reduced the network setup, maintenance, and management workload.

Simple set up, comprehensive network monitoring and easy trouble shooting
SWP series has been designed specifically for sound installation and live sound networking, with simple DIP switch Dante optimization and comprehensive graphical interfacing via a computer application. The SWP2 series support 10 gigabit, allowing operation without fear of insufficient bandwidth even on a Dante network that is set to a sampling frequency of 96kHz. SWP2 series network switches were born out of a desire to give our customers easier solutions that they could operate with confidence, without the need for any special networking know-how.

A refined Yamaha solution
Yamaha Pro Audio is known around the globe as a provider of innovative, top-quality solutions for the sound industry. The Yamaha lineup includes a number of world-standard mixing consoles, signal processors incorporating industry-leading DSP technology, power amplifiers based on energy-efficient drive technology, and an extensive range of speakers suitable for everything from live sound to commercial installations. SWP series network switches are a solution the pro audio market has been waiting for, offering an ideal a balance of IT and pro audio know-how that only Yamaha could provide.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What primary networking environment is the Yamaha SWP2-10MMF designed for? +
The Yamaha SWP2-10MMF is specifically engineered for professional audio and video network infrastructure. It is optimized to handle high-bandwidth multicast traffic, such as Dante audio, ensuring reliable data transmission and synchronization for live performance venues, recording studios, and complex system installations where precise packet delivery is essential.
How many ports does the SWP2-10MMF offer and what are their types? +
This unit features 10 total ports for versatile connectivity. It includes 8 copper RJ-45 ports supporting 10/100/1000Base-T speeds and 2 dedicated optical SFP slots. The inclusion of these SFP ports allows for long-distance fiber optic uplinks, which is crucial for reducing signal loss across larger event spaces or studio facilities.
Does the SWP2-10MMF support VLAN configuration for traffic isolation? +
Yes, as a fully managed Layer 2 switch, the SWP2-10MMF provides robust VLAN support. Network administrators can segment traffic effectively, isolating audio and control data to prevent broadcast storms and improve overall network security and performance within complex multimedia environments.
Can the SWP2-10MMF be integrated into a standard equipment rack? +
The Yamaha SWP2-10MMF is built with a rack-mountable form factor, making it perfectly suited for standard 19-inch equipment racks. Its design facilitates efficient integration into existing professional server or AV cabinets, providing a clean, organized solution for managing high-density network cabling in permanent or touring installations.
What is the benefit of the Yamaha SWP2-10MMF's managed features for Dante networks? +
This switch offers sophisticated management tools specifically optimized for Dante digital audio networking. It supports IGMP snooping, which prevents multicast traffic from flooding non-essential ports. This is a critical feature that ensures stable, low-latency audio transmission and prevents the sync errors that can occur on unmanaged or improperly configured networking hardware.
How does the SWP2-10MMF maintain reliability in high-pressure production settings? +
Yamaha designed this switch with professional stability in mind. It features a rugged, durable chassis and internal components that manage heat efficiently during continuous operation. By providing reliable packet switching with minimal jitter, the device helps maintain the uptime required for live production scenarios where equipment failure is not an option.
Does this managed switch support link aggregation or port trunking? +
The SWP2-10MMF supports Link Aggregation Control Protocol (LACP) functionality. This allows you to combine multiple physical ports into a single logical channel, providing increased bandwidth and redundancy between the switch and connected devices or upstream core network equipment, which is highly beneficial for high-traffic audio backbones.
What is the default management interface for the SWP2-10MMF? +
The switch offers a comprehensive web-based management interface. This GUI provides an intuitive way for network technicians to monitor traffic statistics, configure port settings, and manage VLANs or security protocols without needing specialized command-line expertise. It is designed to be accessible and efficient for quick adjustments during live event setups.
