25017 Overview

Affordable switch which can be desktop or rackmounted!
This high performance, compact network switch is ideal for small home or office networks, or for segmenting larger networks into smaller, connected subnets for improved performance. All of its ports are capable of 10/100Mbps auto-negotiation, providing the easiest, most hassle-free way to integrate older 10Base-T network devices. Store-and-forward architecture is used by the switch to filter and forward data after each packet is received and examined to be free of errors.

The switch supports full and half-duplex operation which doubles the network bandwidth and allows the simultaneous transmission and reception of frames without causing collisions. Diagnostic LEDs on the front panel show the operating status of both the switch and the individual ports.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What is the primary function of the Lindy 16-Port NWAY Switch? +
This unmanaged NWAY switch is designed for high-density desktop or rack-mount environments, allowing you to connect up to 16 Ethernet-enabled devices. It facilitates seamless data exchange across your local network by automatically negotiating the fastest connection speed and duplex mode for each connected port, ensuring efficient traffic management without requiring complex software configuration.
Does the Lindy 16-Port switch support auto-negotiation for different cable types? +
Yes, this model features NWAY auto-negotiation, which automatically detects whether the connected device requires 10Mbps or 100Mbps speeds. It also supports Auto-MDI/MDIX, meaning the switch intelligently identifies whether you are using a straight-through or crossover cable, eliminating the need for specific cable types and simplifying your network installation process.
Is this switch suitable for home office or small business environments? +
Absolutely. The Lindy 16-Port NWAY switch is an ideal solution for small office or home network setups where you need to expand your wired connection capacity. Its unmanaged nature makes it a plug-and-play device, perfect for users who need a reliable, cost-effective way to link PCs, printers, and network-attached storage devices without needing an IT department.
Can I mount the Lindy 16-Port NWAY Switch in a standard server cabinet? +
The physical design of this unit is intended for versatile deployment. While compact enough for desktop use, its dimensions are compatible with standard rack-mount scenarios often found in small networking closets. Please verify your specific rack depth and available U-space to ensure a proper fit for this hardware within your existing infrastructure.
What management features are available on this switch? +
This is a strictly unmanaged switch, meaning it does not require firmware updates, VLAN configuration, or remote monitoring via a console. It is designed for simplicity and reliability; once powered on, the switch autonomously manages data packet switching, providing a hassle-free networking experience that stays operational around the clock without administrative intervention.
How does the NWAY technology improve network performance? +
NWAY technology optimizes network throughput by allowing the switch to communicate directly with connected hardware to select the highest common denominator for communication speeds. By balancing these loads automatically, the switch reduces packet collisions and maximizes the available bandwidth across all 16 ports simultaneously, maintaining a stable flow of data for your connected devices.
What is the power consumption like for this 16-port unit? +
As an unmanaged networking device, this switch is engineered for energy efficiency. It is designed to consume only the power necessary to maintain active connections on its 16 ports. This low-power footprint makes it an economical choice for businesses focused on reducing operational expenses while maintaining constant connectivity for their essential hardware and peripheral equipment.
Are there specific LEDs on the Lindy switch to help with troubleshooting? +
Yes, the front panel features intuitive LED status indicators. These lights provide real-time visual feedback on link status, data activity, and power state for each individual port. By observing these indicators, you can quickly identify disconnected cables or inactive devices, allowing for rapid physical layer troubleshooting without needing advanced diagnostic tools or software.
