Product Details

-High-performance 10 Gigabit Ethernet

Cisco 350X Series switches break the barrier of 10 Gigabit Ethernet adoption by providing affordable and powerful features for growing small and medium-sized business networks. With the 10G ports in both copper and fiber, you can easily and cost-effectively enable 10G connections to servers and network storage devices with standard RJ-45 Ethernet cables. You can also aggregate 10G Enhanced Small Form-Factor Pluggable (SFP+) fiber connections to build a high-performance backbone to dramatically increase the overall speed of your network.

-IPv6 support

As the IP address scheme evolves to accommodate a growing number of network devices, the Cisco 350X Series can support the transition to the next generation of networking and operating systems such as Windows 7, Vista, and Linux. These switches continue to support previous-generation IPv4, allowing you to evolve to the new IPv6 standard at your own pace, and helping ensure that your current network will continue to support your business applications in the future.

-Advanced Layer 3 traffic management

The Cisco 350X Series enables a more advanced set of traffic management capabilities to help growing businesses organize their networks more effectively and efficiently. The switches provide static LAN Layer 3 routing, allowing you to segment your network into workgroups and communicate across VLANs without degrading application performance.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the primary advantage of the 10GbE uplink ports on the Cisco SG350X-48? +
The SG350X-48 features four 10-Gigabit uplinks, including two combo 10GBase-T/SFP+ ports and two dedicated SFP+ ports. These high-speed interfaces are critical for eliminating bottlenecks when connecting to high-performance servers, NAS devices, or as high-bandwidth uplinks to the network core, significantly improving overall data throughput for bandwidth-intensive applications.
Can I stack multiple Cisco SG350X-48 switches to manage them as a single unit? +
Yes, this model supports physical stacking, allowing you to connect up to four units to form a single managed switch stack. This configuration provides a unified control plane and simplified management interface, making it easy to expand your network capacity while maintaining consistent configuration policies across the entire stack of ports.
Does the SG350X-48 provide enough port density for a standard medium-sized office deployment? +
With 48 ports of 10/100/1000 Gigabit Ethernet, this switch is designed to handle robust office deployments. It provides ample connectivity for desktop workstations, IP phones, and wireless access points, while the 10GbE uplinks ensure that the access layer has the necessary capacity to backhaul traffic to the aggregation layer without congestion.
How do I configure and manage the Cisco SG350X-48 within my existing network infrastructure? +
This switch supports comprehensive management options, including an intuitive web-based GUI, a standard Command Line Interface (CLI) for experienced administrators, and Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP). These features allow for seamless integration into your existing network management systems for effective monitoring, troubleshooting, and configuration of advanced Layer 3 routing features.
What kind of Layer 3 routing capabilities are available on the SG350X-48? +
The SG350X-48 offers advanced Layer 3 static routing, which allows you to segment your network into logical subnets and route traffic between them at the hardware level. This improves network performance by offloading inter-VLAN routing from your router, reducing traffic overhead and enhancing security through better control over internal network communications.
Are the SFP+ ports on this switch compatible with standard fiber optic transceivers? +
Yes, the SFP+ ports are designed to accommodate a wide variety of Cisco-compatible SFP+ transceivers. This flexibility allows you to choose between short-range multi-mode fiber or long-range single-mode fiber depending on your specific cabling requirements, ensuring the switch can adapt to your environment's unique physical distance and infrastructure demands.
How does the SG350X-48 ensure reliable operation during heavy network traffic? +
Reliability is maintained through advanced traffic management features, including Quality of Service (QoS) prioritization for voice and video traffic, as well as robust loop protection mechanisms like Spanning Tree Protocol. These features ensure that even under heavy loads, the switch maintains consistent performance and minimizes the risk of network-wide outages or performance degradation.
Is this switch suitable for environments that require high security for network access? +
Absolutely, the SG350X-48 includes sophisticated security features such as IEEE 802.1X port security, Access Control Lists (ACLs), and DoS prevention. These tools allow network administrators to strictly control access to the network, ensuring that only authenticated devices can connect and protecting your infrastructure against unauthorized access or common network-based attacks.
